The proper golf swing and clubs that fit?

Peter L asked:

I’m taking lessons right now and really trying to get my swing down right…what I am experiencing tho is that my golf shot/ball flight (not swing…maybe it still is bad…but thats why Im taking lessons)…seems to be getting worse…I think its because now that my form is getting better and Im beginning to really understand the mechanics of a proper golf swing (although exectution is a totally different issue) I am not adjusting my swing to fit my equipment as much as in the past…I am really hitting a wall…anyone else experience the same thing when they really began to understand the golf swing? I have about 12 lessons left and really thinking about just stopping for now and getting some fitted clubs…what are some of your thoughts?
in response to danbetti…im not really blaming my equipment for my bad golf game…what im saying is, if your clubs dont fit…can you really perform what should be a textbook golf swing…i kno eldrick woods can pick up any club and smash the cover the cover off…ive got some cheap clubs that are cast iron and apparently very hard metal, so the pro shop wasnt able to adjust the lie…which they say is about 2.75-3 degrees to upright…which means at address my arms cant hang the way a “proper” swing calls for…i asked this question because whats the point of me taking lessons learning how to make a good golf swing, when my equipment prevents right from the get go a proper set up…im asking this question to find out if others have faced the same thing…i wasnt really blaming on my cheap clubs…im partly blaming clubs dont dont fit properly…so this question applies whether or not im swing $2K set that dont fit…
correction not danbetti…wbaker, the 2nd response.

How big a disaster is it that Nike is going to have to recall all of it’s SUMO 2 drivers?

scratch7 asked:

The SUMO 2 doesn’t meet USGA C.O.R standards, and all current models in the market will have to be replaced to be legal. How badly will this damage Nike’s image in golf?

How to choose the best beginner Golf clubs? Experts, what would you recommend?

asked:

I’m finally starting to get into Golf. Throughout my 16 years of life, I have played several sports and dropped out of them in the end. But I seem to like Golf and I could visualize myself being a decent player and playing to my adult ages to senior ages.

I don’t know a lot about Golf since I’m just beginning. I’ve been to my Wal-Mart store, and they don’t have a big selection. The other day I went to Boscov’s and they have twice as much of a selection. Their prices range from $80-$250. Sometime soon, I plan on going to Dick’s Sporting Goods.

I don’t want to spend a fortune on equipment since I don’t know if I’m going to perminantly stick with it. I really hope I do, but I can’t promise anything. I’m looking for anything that’d be good for a beginner. Something like an all in one set. (Including a bag).

My goal is to spend within $80-$130. I would go a little higher if it’s really necessary, but I need some other money for balls and other stuff too. Are socks really necessary to your Driver’s and other clubs? My friend’s seem to make a big deal over them, I just don’t get it.

So, what would you recommend for that type of budget? I’m open to any suggestions. However, I’d like to buy my stuff sometime this week so I can go Golfing with my friend this upcoming Saturday.

Thanks for your help!

Is John Daly Really Quitting?

by Tom Edrington

John Daly is not quitting, he’s not leaving the PGA Tour.

That’s what his most visible sponsor is saying.

“We’re not worried about his retiring,” said Larry Jackson Saturday at the PGA Merchanise Show in Orlando, Fl.

Jackson, the CEO of Loudmouth Golf, the company that dresses Daly in those attention-getting trousers, was chuckling when he discussed the “breaking news” that was reported late Friday on the Golf Channel.

“I can’t compete anymore,” a somber Daly told the Golf Channel in the parking lot at Torrey Pines.

“John’s an emotional guy. He’s not quitting, he’s already said he just needs some time on his Facebook page,” Jackson said. “He will be back. He’ll be back at the AT&T.”

Jackson said that Daly is a good match with the fast-growing company, Loudmouth Golf. “Actually it was Jim McMahon who introduced him (Daly) to us,” Jackson said. “John was playing in a pro-am with Jim and saw how much attention he was getting by wearing our clothes.”

“He’s dropped 105 pounds,” Jackson said. “He started at 286 and is now 181. We were sending him waist size 44 last April, we sent him 34s this month.”

Jackson said he’s was bombarded with calls and texts after Daly’s interview on the Golf Channel.

“Just give him a little time and he’ll keep playing. Like I said, we’re not worried at all,” Jackson said, smiling.

Buying Quality Golf Clubs?

Connie asked:

I’m a beginner at golf, but basically I have the idea of the fundamentals. However, when it comes to buying golf clubs, I’m a sucker at that. I specifically want to find your own opinion on one of these golf club brand names:
Wilson
Dunlap
Acuity
NIKE
Taylor Made
Callaway
Mizuno

What I want to buy is a half set, but I want something that’s durable and affordable at the same time.

*Additional: I’m 12 years old, and I’m 5′1″. The length between my wrist and the floor is 27″.

How do I clean the fake grass from the driving range off of my golf club heads?

thepanikdd asked:

When I’m finished hitting from the mats at the driving range, the club heads on my irons always have the fake green grass stuck/burned onto them – how do I get that off? Tried using one “golf club cleaning brush” to little avail…I am concerned about scratching the club head itself if I use anything sharp (maybe I shouldn’t be?) – any thoughts???
