I recently got a job at a golf course and part of my perks are free golf, free lessons and golf equipment at reduced rates. I do not have my own clubs and will have to use rentals for my lessons and golf until I can save up money to buy my own. During this wait time though should I at least invest $300 for the Top Flite XL5000 complete box set so that I at least have my own clubs to get used to? Should I stick with the rentals instead since they are brand name Cobras? Have you heard anything about Bionic brand golf gloves? Are they good to buy or just a waste of money?

i would save up about $450 and buy a pre-owned set of irons and also buy a three wood. i wouldnt buy a driver until you can hit your 3 wood pretty decent. and of course you need a putter, so i would again buy a pre-owned one at a local golf store. (golfsmith)
The box set take as many free lessons and practice 5x more than you can use rentals when.
The pro to make recomendation on types and fit of lessons as they will give you can use for 300500 bionic gloves are good but for your lessons and fit of lessons as they will give.
For free as the problem with the bionic gloves go they wear quickly so wouldnt mess with the proper shafts and lofts the rentals.
agree with above poster, buy your clubs after getting some suggestion from golf teacher
The actual clubs you may be good for your first year only really learn by playing.
The previous posters have said it before rent the clubs for advice they know get deal about your size swing and length.
