As a new golfer myself, the best way for you to figure out what will work best is to go to a pro-shop and just try out a few. What club works best for you depends on the style of game you play and how forgiving you want to club to be. Some clubs leave little margin for error if your swing is off.

Best thing is for you to hit the local sports shop and get some assistance from the golf department associate. They are usually knowledgeable about the brands they sell and can handpick the best few for beginners. They usually have a small area where you can take a few practice swings…I know a Sports Authority near me that has an actual locked cage so you can take real shots into a net. There is no “best” brand out there because every person has a different body type, different stance/swing, and different comfort zone. Some like metal shafts, others don’t. The set you “like” the most will be the “best” for you.

Go to your local golf course and see the Pro. The best thing to do is to go to someone in the business of making golf clubs, such as Golfsmith. They can measure you for length, loft and lie. Also, they have test equipment to use for you to try the clubs, measuring the speed of your swing and the length and direction of your ball flight. Good playing to you.

Hi – great question. I am a PGA Golf Professional myself in the Philadelphia, PA area and your best bet is to call the local PGA office nearest you and locate a PGA PRO. Go to PGA.com the national website.

You may not need petite clubs. Your height is not as important as your arms height from the ground.

I’m 5′2″ too, and I use standard lenght lady golf clubs. Maybe this checklist can help you out:

  7. Online Golf Tips

There are clubs made by Callaway named GES. These clubs are easy for any one to hit but are specially made for ladies on the lie and lofts. My wife is 5-4 and loves these clubs. Good luck.
